Event Description

Trans Am National – Mid-Ohio 2025

The Trans Am Series National Championship descends upon Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, for the Permco Grand Prix of Mid-Ohio, a highlight of the 2025 schedule. The 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course, nestled on 380 acres of rolling terrain, is a driver and fan favorite, known for its challenging layout and natural amphitheater setting. This event, part of a 12-race season, follows the Memorial Day Classic at Lime Rock Park and precedes Road America, promising a pivotal mid-season showdown.

The weekend features all five Trans Am classes: TA, TA2, XGT, SGT, and GT, with over 50 entries expected. TA brings 850+ horsepower beasts like Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros, while TA2 showcases fierce competition among production-based cars. XGT and SGT feature exotic GT machinery, and GT rounds out the field with agile sports cars. The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association joins the lineup, adding historic flair to the modern racing spectacle.

Mid-Ohio’s repaved surface, completed in recent years, ensures smooth, fast racing, with past winners like Chris Dyson and Rafa Matos likely to leverage their experience—Dyson with victories in 2021 and 2023, and Matos holding three wins at the track. The event also marks a homecoming for local drivers, with Ohio’s racing heritage on full display. Fans can expect a packed grandstand, taking advantage of the natural hillside viewing areas, as the roar of V8 engines echoes through the lush, green landscape under sunny June skies, with temperatures in the mid-70s.

Gates open early, offering access to the paddock where fans can meet drivers and see the cars up close. The TA2 race, a 45-lap sprint, kicks off Saturday afternoon, followed by the TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature on Sunday. Live streaming on the Trans Am YouTube channel ensures global access to the heart-pounding action at this iconic venue.
