Event Description

Intercontinental GT – Indianapolis 8 Hour 2025

The Intercontinental GT Challenge (IGTC) Indianapolis 8 Hour, scheduled for October 16-18, 2025, will cap the 2025 IGTC season at the legendary Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This eighth-hour endurance race, held on the 2.439-mile, 14-turn infield road course, blends high-speed straights with technical corners, testing the limits of GT3 cars and their drivers. As the fifth and final round of the series, following Bathurst, Nürburgring, Spa, and Suzuka, it serves as the championship decider for both drivers and manufacturers, promising intense competition under the Indiana autumn sky.

Set for Saturday, October 18, the race begins at noon ET and stretches into dusk, offering fans a rare twilight spectacle at the Brickyard. The event features a stacked field of GT3 machines—Porsche, Ferrari, BMW, Mercedes-AMG, and more—fielded by top teams like Team WRT and Craft-Bamboo Racing. Running concurrently with the Fanatec GT World Challenge America finale, the grid will showcase a mix of IGTC full-season entries and North American contenders, amplifying the stakes and diversity of talent. Practice and qualifying unfold on Thursday and Friday, building anticipation for the main event.

The Indianapolis 8 Hour’s strategic depth—pit stops, driver changes, and tire management—mirrors its global counterparts, but its shorter duration demands relentless pace. After shifting from a provisional early October slot to mid-October, the date ensures teams can ship equipment from Suzuka, enhancing logistical flow. BMW, a past winner here in 2020 and 2023, aims to defend its legacy, while Mercedes-AMG, fresh off strong 2024 performances, eyes the manufacturers’ crown.

For fans, the race offers digital ticketing and open grandstand seating, immersing them in a clash of speed and endurance at one of motorsport’s hallowed grounds. The 2025 edition, bolstered by its season-finale status, is poised to deliver a thrilling conclusion to the IGTC’s globe-spanning narrative.
