The Trans Am National Series kicks off an exhilarating race at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, a renowned 2.54-mile, 12-turn road course in Braselton, Georgia. This iconic track, with its demanding elevation changes and fast-paced layout, has been a staple of the series since 1972, hosting 42 races over its 54-year history. The Trans Am Series, North America’s longest-running professional road racing championship since 1966, brings its signature blend of American muscle and high-speed competition to the Mission Foods Road Atlanta SpeedTour.
The weekend features 56 drivers across seven classes—TA, XGT, SGT, GT, TA2, GT1, and Pro/Am Challenge—competing in 100-mile races on both Saturday and Sunday, March 23. Fans can catch the action live on SPEED SPORT 1 and YouTube via @TheTransAmSeries. Road Atlanta has a storied legacy with Trans Am, and past winners like Chris Dyson, Mike Skeen, and Billy Griffin, each with four victories here, are among the seasoned competitors. They’re joined by recent champions like Adam Andretti, Danny Lowry, Chris Coffey, Thomas Merrill, and Barry Boes, all eager to add another win to their records.
The field also includes young talent, like 14-year-old Brent Crews in the No. 70 Ford Mustang, aiming for a strong performance before his 15th birthday on March 30. Local Georgia drivers, such as Patrick Paul from Kennesaw, bring hometown pride, while Adairsville-based Burtin Racing fields Andretti’s No. 17 Chevrolet Camaro. Newcomers like GT1 Challenge driver Rob Dickey, debuting in the No. 64 Chevrolet Camaro, add fresh competition. SGT racer Cindi Lux, a five-year colon cancer survivor, competes with support from the CheckIt4Andretti foundation, showcasing the series’ heart and resilience. With its mix of veteran skill, rising stars, and raw power, the Road Atlanta race promises a thrilling spectacle for Trans Am fans.
