Excitement is building for the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli, set to launch its 2025 National Championship at Sebring International Raceway from February 20-23. This iconic 3.74-mile, 17-turn track, the birthplace of Trans Am in 1966, will host the season opener as part of the Sebring SpeedTour, continuing its tradition since 2013. Over 60 cars are expected across the TA/XGT/SGT/GT and CUBE 3 Architecture TA2 Series, with nearly two dozen Historic Trans Am (HTA) cars adding nostalgic flair.
The event will feature a diverse field, including rookie Mia Lovell in the No. 40 Nitro Motorsports Ford Mustang, a former professional skateboarder turned racer, and 14 drivers vying for the Young Gun Award, a $20,000 prize for the top under-25 driver. Notable names like seven-time champion Ernie Francis Jr., competing in SVRA’s Group 10, and past champions like Paul Menard and Amy Ruman, will elevate the competition. Lyn St. James, a trailblazing female driver, will serve as Grand Marshal, giving commands for the TA2 and HTA races.
Fans can anticipate intense racing, with the new GT1 Challenge class debuting and the TA Cup introducing spec tube-frame vehicles. The Trans Am Hall of Fame will also launch with a February 21 ceremony, honoring 18 inductees, including legends like Mark Donohue and Roger Penske. Live streaming will be available on Trans Am’s YouTube channel and SPEED SPORT 1, ensuring global access.
Sebring’s challenging layout, combined with events like the Hagerty Cars and Caffeine car show and a Saturday banquet, promises a thrilling weekend. Following a January 20-21 pre-season test, teams are fine-tuning for this high-stakes opener, setting the stage for a competitive 2025 season
