The Trans Am National Series roars into Sonoma Raceway for an exciting early-season showdown at the picturesque 2.52-mile, 12-turn road course in California’s wine country. Known for its challenging elevation changes and sweeping turns, Sonoma Raceway has been a staple of the Trans Am Series, which has been the premier professional road racing championship in North America since its inception in 1966. This event, part of the SpeedTour weekend, marks the series’ 22nd visit to Sonoma, a track that has hosted 21 races since 1989, with legends like Tomy Drissi and Greg Pickett each claiming three victories here.
A robust field of 50 competitors across multiple classes—TA, TA2, XGT, SGT, GT, GT1, and Pro/Am Challenge—will tackle the 100-mile races scheduled for Saturday and Sunday. The action will be broadcast live on SPEED SPORT 1 and YouTube via @TheTransAmSeries, giving fans a front-row seat to the high-octane competition. The grid features a mix of veterans and rising stars, including local California talent like Drissi, a Santa Rosa native, piloting the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro, and Pickett in the No. 6 Ford Mustang. They’re joined by drivers like Amy Ruman, a two-time TA champion, in the No. 23 Chevrolet Corvette, and young prospect Brent Crews, the 14-year-old phenom in the No. 70 Ford Mustang.
The event also showcases the series’ diversity, with American muscle cars like the Dodge Challenger, Chevrolet Camaro, and Ford Mustang dominating the field. SGT racer Cindi Lux, a five-year colon cancer survivor, competes in the No. 45 Dodge Viper, supported by the CheckIt4Andretti foundation, adding an inspiring story to the weekend. With Sonoma’s scenic backdrop, a blend of raw power, and fierce competition, the Trans Am National Series at Sonoma Raceway promises an unforgettable start to the 2025 season for fans and drivers alike.
