The Trans Am Series National Championship heads to Watkins Glen International on August 21-24, 2025, for the Watkins Glen SpeedTour, a thrilling mid-season event. Nestled in New York’s Finger Lakes region, the 3.45-mile, 11-turn road course—known as “The Glen”—is a historic track with a reputation for high speeds and technical challenges, including the Esses and the Inner Loop. Following Road America and preceding VIR, this race is a crucial stop in the 2025 championship battle.
All five Trans Am classes—TA, TA2, XGT, SGT, and GT—will take to the track, with over 50 cars expected. TA showcases raw power with 850+ horsepower machines like Ford Mustangs and Chevrolet Camaros, while TA2 features close racing among production-based cars, with drivers like Rafa Matos and Chris Dyson likely to leverage their experience at this track. XGT and SGT bring exotic GT machinery, and GT adds variety with lighter sports cars. The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association joins the lineup, blending classic racers with modern muscle for a nostalgic touch.
Watkins Glen’s sprawling layout offers fans panoramic views, with grandstands at Turn 1 and the Boot providing prime vantage points. The late August weather, typically in the low 80s with a chance of afternoon showers, creates a warm, vibrant atmosphere, with the surrounding vineyards and rolling hills in full summer bloom. The paddock is open to spectators, offering a chance to see the cars up close and meet drivers, while the fan walk before the races adds to the excitement.
The TA2 race, a 45-lap sprint, is set for Saturday afternoon, followed by the TA/XGT/SGT/GT feature on Sunday morning. Gates open at 8:00 a.m. daily, with tickets starting at $35, and kids under 12 free with an adult. Live streaming on the Trans Am YouTube channel ensures global access to the high-speed action at this iconic venue.
