The 2025 Lone Star Le Mans, set for September 5-7 at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas, is the sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the only North American race on the 2025 calendar. This 6-hour endurance event, held on the challenging 5.513km anti-clockwise circuit with 20 turns (11 left, 9 right), showcases 37 entries, including 19 Hypercars and 18 LMGT3 cars from global manufacturers like Ferrari, Porsche, Toyota, Cadillac, and newcomers Aston Martin. COTA’s dramatic elevation changes, signature uphill Turn 1 (“Big Red”), and triple-apex Turns 16-18 promise intense racing, with Hypercars hitting speeds of 305kph.
The weekend begins with Free Practice on September 5, followed by Qualifying and Hyperpole sessions on September 6, determining the grid for both classes. The race starts at 1:00 PM on September 7, featuring strategic driver changes and tire management. In 2024, Ferrari’s #83 499P, driven by Yifei Ye, Robert Shwartzman, and Robert Kubica, claimed victory, setting the stage for a fierce 2025 battle among Porsche, Toyota, and Ferrari, with only four points separating the top manufacturers last season.
Local drivers like Ben Keating in the #88 Proton Competition Ford Mustang LMGT3 add American flair. Over 65,000 fans attended in 2024, and 2025 aims to surpass this with accessible tickets starting at $79 for 3-day general admission, including grandstand access, and $100 for paddock passes with pit walks and autograph sessions. Enhanced fan experiences, including on-track action and off-track entertainment, aim to elevate the event into a WEC classic. With negotiations ongoing to extend COTA’s WEC contract, the Lone Star Le Mans is poised to solidify its status as a premier motorsport spectacle.
